Rich, creamy, smooth chocolate ice cream on a hot summer’s day is an awesome way to beat the heat. Topped with nuts, whipped cream and chocolate syrup sounds so good about now!

If you want a very simple ice cream with simple ingredients, this recipe below works well. We’ve made this for special ocassions and everyone enjoyed it.

4 C. whole milk powder
1 1/2 C sugar
1/2 C. Cocoa

8 C. water
1T vanilla extract

Instructions:

Using your blender, mix in 1 C. water to mix to a creamy texture. It helps keep it from clumping.
Gradually stir in 1 C. more of water and 2 T. of vanilla. Put in freezer.
Run through blender for creamier texture. Freeze.

If you’re feeling a little more adventurous, this recipe is creamier but takes more work. We’ve made it a few times and it’s real rich and creamy but a little too expensive for our budget.

Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream

4 C. whole milk powder

1 1/2 C. sugar

1/2 C. cocoa

8 C. water

1 T vanilla extract

2 drops peppermint oil

Stir 1 C. water into milk powder to make a creamy texture. It helps keep it from lumping.

Gradually stir in 1 more cup of water and 2 T vanilla. Put it in the freezer and check it every hour and stir to break up ice crystals. Do this until completely frozen. For a creamier texture, run it through the blender and freeze.
